SOLVED: Group Policy Editor user preferences regional settings are underlined in red and cannot be changed and do not apply

Image
When using Group Policy Editor to change the user preferences > regional settings you find these settings are underlined in red and whilst you can change them they do not apply when you click OK / Apply.  Going back into the regional settings you find the settings have reverted to the default. To resolve this issue press F5 on each tab you want to edit and the control will underline in green. For more information about this see the following Microsoft article https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2008-R2-and-2008/cc754299(v=ws.11)  While you're here - Why not check out our  Group Policy Audit and Documentation Tool ?

Group Policy Management Report Shows: Display names for some settings cannot be found. You might be able to resolve this issue by updating the .ADM files used by Group Policy Management.

Image
When using the Group Policy Management to view a Group Policy report you see the error under the section "Extra Registry Settings" Display names for some settings cannot be found. You might be able to resolve this issue by updating the .ADM files used by Group Policy Management. This can occur when the ADMX files have only been placed in  C:\windows\PolicyDefinitions And the ADML (the language files) have been placed in the language directory C:\windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US For the files to work correctly they will often need to be stored in the central policy store \\ domain name \SYSVOL\ domain name \policies\PolicyDefinitions More information on the central store can be found here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/group-policy/create-and-manage-central-store  While you're here - Why not check out our  Group Policy Audit and Documentation Tool ?

Outlook hangs when printing certain HTML emails and states "Connecting to printer"

Image
When you try and print an email in Outlook you see Outlook hang whilst "Connecting to printer...". This only happens on certain emails. Running ProcMon from Microsoft/SysInternals shows the following request (other requests removed). Looking closer at the email shows that the issue is caused by trying to download a tracking gif. Opening the source of the email as HTML shows the following <img src="http://api.skype.com/tracking/emails/open/7131000042619205562.gif"> To resolve the issue Temporarily disable your network adapter or Click Actions > Edit Message and remove the tracking gif or Click forward or reply so that the message is open in the editor and it will print correctly.
