Citrix error "The Users configuration has been manually modified and cannot be changed by Studio".

Image
We've found a problem with Citrix XenDesktop 7.x error when viewing a Delivery Group where studio reports the following error. "The Users configuration has been manually modified and cannot be changed by Studio". We found this can occur if the AllowedUsers property of the delivery group is configured incorrectly to resolve this simply run the PowerShell command Set-BrokerAccessPolicyRule " Delivery Group Name " -AllowedUsers FilteredOrAnonymous or Set-BrokerAccessPolicyRule " Delivery Group Name " -AllowedUsers Filtered We're currently looking to update our Citrix Documentation Tool with support for XenDesktop / XenApp 7.x support, if you'd like to know more email upcoming@centrel-solutions.com

Installing App-V 5 displays error "Cannot connect to the SQL Instance you specified" during installation

Image
Today we have experienced a problem working with App-V 5. When you enter a custom SQL instance name you see the error "Cannot connect to the SQL Instance you specified. Please make sure that it exists, the database server is running, and that you have the necessary access rights."   This can occur if you enter the full instance name in the Custom instance name field. Instead of entering the full name for example "CORP-SQL01\APPV" just enter the instance name for example "APPV".  Why not look at documenting your Citrix XenApp farms with our server documentation tool?

Install Windows 8.1 upgrade you're forced to create a Microsoft Account

Image
If you've using the Windows 8.1 upgrade you might find yourself stuck being forced to create a Microsoft account. This is very annoying but simple to overcome. Just select Create a new account and from the next screen Click Sign in without a Microsoft Account . Alternatively unplug the network cable and the selection process will fail and you'll be able to proceed without a cable.

Citrix Receiver web reports "No logon methods are available on this platform"

Image
When using the Citrix receiver web interface you may see the error "No logon methods are available on this platform" when accessing the StoreFront on the local network. This can be caused if the StoreFront is configured for pass - through authentication however the browser is not passing the authentication details to the server. When using Internet Explorer this is typically because the URL of the StoreFront is not configured as being within the Local Intranet Zone .

Citrix XenDesktop or XenApp reports "Incorrect Domain" when using Citrix Receiver Web

Image
We've recently been investing support for our Citrix Documentation and Audit Tool and had a problem with Citrix Receiver Web where the user is provided with the error message "Incorrect Domain" when they try to logon using the Username and Password authentication system and they enter a domain in the username field of the form.   This error is caused by the domain not being trusted. Simply open the Citrix StoreFront console, goto authentication, select Username and Password and click Trusted Domains. You can then enter the name of the domain you wish to trust.
